How Do You Rate Your Decorated Christmas Tree?

Chrstmas treeHOW DO YOU RATE YOUR DECORATED  CHRISTMAS TREE?  I ask mysef this question each year.

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, I begin to prepare for decorating the tree.  And, it never fails, I start to get cranky, mad, and YES almost in tears, trying to get the tree to look like the department stores.  Well, this year, I came pretty close.

It is such a BIG task to get all the decorations together, making sure the lights work, etc., etc.  But, in the end, when all is done, and I'm sitting on the sofa admiring the tree with my husband, it is with great satisfaction to say "Good Job".   I just hope it  doesn't fall over. Or, you may hear my scream around the world !!

I will give my Christmas tree pictured here an "eight" rating.  I can always improve.  What do you rate your decorated Christmas tree this year? (1 through 10)

Rebecca, Your tree is just lovely but it's a shame you stress over it.  It should be fun to decorate and it never has to be perfect.  I once had one that was leaning over--and couldn't do anything to make it straight but I was happy to have one :)  I love the holidays.............

Carole, Yes I do stress somewhat. I do enjoy decorating the tree, and usually have Christmas carols playing while decorating, which really helps me calm down.

Rebecca,

Well, not to brag but I'll give mine a 10. The reason is it was lovingly decorated by my wife, my daughter, her daughter, and my son. It's the testimony of 30 years of life together as a family. It doesn't look like one you see in a store. It's much better. One of my favorite ornaments is one my son (now 20) made when he was in grade school. (He'd die if he knew I shared this) They cut a little ginger bread man out of dark cardboard and decorated it. Now let me insert, my son is a phenominal artist. We've tried to get him to market his work on ebay etc but he has that artsy, what the heck personalities. But he's also an extreme perfectionist. When it came time to glue the smile on the ginger bread man he was obviously on the other side of the table because it came out as a perfectly placed frown. He gets embarrassed when we put it up every year but it's so cute. OK no more bragging. We just love our very personal tree.

This year, I gave my tree a 6 and only that high because each ornament meant something special.  We typically cut down our tree at the same tree farm every year.  This year the trees had a disease and none where large enough for our "space".  So we bought a smaller tree (4') for the basement and bought our living room tree at Home Depot.  We didn't realize until we got it home that the trunk of the tree was actually painted green to make it look greener!  Fresh cut has nothing on the trees that have been cut and waiting.  I packed up the tree today and the birds and animals will enjoy it on the farm.
