Greenbrier County is the second largest county in West Virginia, with 1021 square miles and was created in March of 1778 from portions of Montgomery and Botetourt counties (Virginia) and was named for its primary river. Greenbrier County is considered the "mother county" of southern West Virginia.

As noted in the chart below the number of sold and pending listings were the same for December 2011 and 2010.

In December 2011, 17 houses sold - price range from $16,500 to $2,050,000.
In December 2010, 17 houses sold - price range from $17,900 to $1,500,000
(Note: the higher priced houses in the million dollar range are located in the Greenbrier's Sporting Club)
The average days on the market in December 2011 was 204, compared to 244 in December 2010.
Greenbrier County absorption rate (months of inventory) for December 2011 was 16.14, compared 21.38 in December 2010.

Nicely done market report, Rebecca - I love your inclusion of maps and pictures! That change in absorption rate means the market is active, so folks really should look to you ASAP for advice on buying and selling in Greenbriar County!
