Looking for a little holiday entertainment that is affordable and entertaining for the entire family? Greenbrier Valley Theatre presents the delightful return of the Winter Wonderettes "a must-see holiday hit!"
The Christmas show, which has been described by The Delaware News Journal as a lighthearted “musical feast” is the sequel to GVT’s 2010 production, The Marvelous Wonderettes.
This time around, the Wonderettes, a group of high school friends who performed at their senior prom and 10-year reunion, join together to play the 1968 holiday party at Harper’s Hardware. Complications and a little hilarity arise, however, when Mr. Harper passes out pink slips instead of holiday bonuses. Thanks to Santa, all ends happily and merrily in this winter wonderland.
The story ties together songs such as “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “A Marshmallow World,” “We Wanna See Santa Do the Mambo,” and many, many more.
The Winter Wonderettes' cast includes three familiar faces and one newcomer to the GVT stage:

In the photo, clockwise from the back: Leah Monzillo, Ashley Stults, Kim Morgan Dean and Christina Caravella.
Kim Morgan Dean resumes her role as Betty Jean. The award-winning actress first appeared at Greenbrier Valley Theatre in The Marvelous Wonderettes and has been featured in every GVT production this season, most recently as Nancy in Oliver! and as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Other credits include Yankee Tavern, Moon Over Buffalo and Body of Water.
Christina Caravella returns to GVT as Cindy Lou, the role she performed in The Marvelous Wonderettes. The Ohio native, who now calls New York City home, also appeared in GVT’s production of Nevermore. Caravella’s favorite credits include The Light in the Piazza, City of Angels, Cabaret and West Side Story.
Leah Monzillo portrays Missy. Monzillo, who is best friends off-stage with Kim Morgan Dean, previously appeared in GVT’s production of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. Additional credits include All Shook Up, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Ashley Stults makes her GVT debut as Suzy. The Arizona native has previously appeared in such productions as Meet Me in St. Louis, Crazy for You and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She also worked as a rehearsal stand-in for Chess, starring Josh Groban and Indina Menzel, at Royal Albert Hall in London.
Winter Wonderettes is directed by Ricky Whitfield, a newcomer to GVT. Whitfield is also the director for the Norwegian Cruise Lines musical Band on the Run and serves as the resident associate director/choreographer for Le Cirque Bijou aboard the Jewel shop for Norwegian. He has also toured in China, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Musical direction is by Lauren Darrell, who recently joined the GVT staff. A graduate of James Madison University, Darrell recently spent a year at the PCPA Theatre fest and Conservatory in Santa Maria, Calif., where she music directed Musical of Musicals and conducted/assistant music directed Curtains and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
