Rebecca ....some of my best Christmas memories are from going out in the woods and cutting a tree.....Now we opt for the artificial ones.

Nice post!

Rebecca:  We had fake trees for over 20 years but got a real tree for the first time last year and loved it.  We are going out this weekend to pick one out.

Rebecca - We do the artificial tree; have done for years since I realized that I was allergic to the scent of the pine.

Rebecca, I have an artificial tree, as picking up needles gets old, and would not want the tree to get too dry and burn my house down.   Sure LOVE that smell of fresh pine trees!

Hi Rebecca

I love the smell of a real tree but not the mess.  We bought a beautiful life like tree a few years back that many have asked is it real.  Warm plug in's offer a Christmas smell  so we get the best of both worlds.

I am partial to Douglas fir because that's the kind of tree I had growing up. Besides watering the tree, which the cats always drank -- ick, ickk -- sometimes we had to tie the tree to the wall so the cats wouldn't run up and knock it over.

I love the smell of a live tree but do not think they decorate well. They are GREAT fun when the kids are little and well worth the sacrifice of a "pretty" tree! LOL!

Rebecca,

A fresh tree sounds great.  But we're stuck in the artificial phase, having already put up our white tree... g

Love picking out our Christmas tree each year and making a wreath with the bottom branches we cut to fit the tree stand. Before we moved to Murphy, NC we'd come up every Thanksgiving holiday and before we headed home we'd go out to a tree farm, pick and cut our tree and drive back to Miami. Nice that we don't have that long drive home anymore :)

Hi Rebecca,  it has been a long time since I have had a real Christmas tree.  I love the way they smell though.  My fake tree cant fake that.  It would be fun to cut one down yourself.

Rob, I also have some great memories...

Anita, good for you...I love the smell of a live tree in the house...but, not the mess it makes :)

Toni, I also do artificial trees now.

Joan, get some pine scented candles. or plug-ins for that great pine smell.

John, the best of both worlds without the mess...my way!

Elizabeth, I can just imagine the cats going up the tree and it falling...OH no.

Joni, you are sooo correct and I agree fake are easie to decorate.

Gordon, so are we!

Lee & Carol, it is nice ... now you can cut one, drive home and decorate the same day :)

Amy, try some scented pine candles, plug-ins...for the great smell of pine.

Great localism post - please check out that first post entry in the list, it takes me to a Yahoo page and needs to be, like this one, an ActiveRain post. Thanks
