Part 6, New Businesses in Lewisburg, WV | Biscuits & Bones

bluildingBiscuit & Bones is a gift shop for pets and their people too!  The owners, Janice and Brian Mollet, opened their new business, Biscuit & Bones January 2011.

Bryan and Janice moved to West Virginia from Long Island, NY in 2010.  In New York, they owned and operated a very large boarding kennel and grooming salon for 20 years.  Janice has been a professional dog groomer, trainer, and has shown numerous different breeds in the show ring.

After selling their kennel and wanting to move to a more rural setting, they found a beautiful log home in Crawley, WV ..... with 20 acres for their six dogs, four cats, and two horses to roam. But after two years, they missed the interaction of dealing with people and their pets.

While visiting Lewisburg and all the town shops, Janice and Brian noticed that almost every shop they entered had a dog mascot.  They realized that Lewisburg was a very dog-friendly town, and that Lewisburg needed a gift shop where people could show off their love for their pets.  And, so Biscuit & Bones became a reality.  Janice had been collecting art work and signage of different breeds her whole life, and half of the store has merchandise pet owners can purchase to show off their love of their pet.

A year before Biscuits & Bones opened, Brian adopted an Irish wolfhound, named Murphy.  Murphy had many eating and digestive problems.  So, Brian began cooking and baking for Murphy.   Janice said, “Murphy loved the homemade biscuits, and the word spread through all our canine friends.”

Bones & Biscuits BarkeryThe other half of Biscuits & Bones store is the “Barkery”,  with a full kitchenJanice says , "since Brian loves to be in the kitchen, he bakes fresh biscuits daily.  Many of our local canine friends come in weekly for their stash of biscuits.”

3.  Cheesy Biscuit

4.  Peanut Butter Biscuit

5.  Honey and Parsley

6.  Mini Cinnamon Rolls

7.  Garlic Knots

8.  Organic Carob Brownies

9.  Giant Pretzels – these are NY-style pretzels w/o salt

10.  Murphy's Meal is 100% chicken, rice, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots and spinach.  It is a special treat, not to be fed as a complete meal, but as a treat, or mix a few tablespoons of Murphy’s Meal in their dog food; great for finicky eaters, and pets recuperating from an illness.  There are no additives or preservatives in the meal.

I'm confused, though. I see lots of "pets" and "dogs" but no "cats." Why are cats always discriminated against? :)♪♫♫♪

Rebecca,  Clearly Bryan and Janice are living their passion and love for animals.  Biscuit & Bones is a great addition to the dog friendly community.

@Jim - could it be that dog-lovers are not cat people and cat people are not-so-much dog people? I personally don't feel it is discrimination as much as it is a natural separation. Do I hear Meow-Meow music playing in the background?  For me, cats - dogs ... I love them all!

Rebecca - OMG!!!  Some of those treats look scrumptious!  Hubby and I have three fur babies, two of them, our Joie & Dawson, have allergies and need special diets (gluten & wheat free) and Dawson also gets yogurt with his meals for his skin and coat.  We love our fur babies and will do whatever it takes to keep them healthy and happy.  These are our fur babies Sadie, Joie & Dawson.

Rebecca,

This sounds like the gourmet shop for dogs and any pet owner who owns dogs would love to shop here!

I love that owners have a passion and they are doing a great job to supply the right food for the owners for their pets. This is truly a lovely shop and a great addition for the community!
