A Fun Time at The Greenbrier's Auction

A Fun Time at The Greenbrier's Auction

I attended the Greenbrier Resort Auction held Saturday, May 21st at the State Fairgrounds.  The auctioneer was Woltz & Associates, Inc. The sale included buses, limousines, trucks, kitchen equipment, a wide variety of glass and dishware, an assortment of furniture, apparel, and much more. I arrived at 10:00 am and finally left the building at 5:00 pm.

It was really a lot of fun....so many unique items for sale and people were there to buy a piece of history from the Greenbrier, .....  and there were thousands of Greenbrier items for sale.

While browsing around, I met Nancy Caton and her daughter from Charlottesville, VA. They were there to purchase one item only...the Greenbrier's Mint Julep Cups.

Nancy Caton and daughter at Greenbrier AuctionNancy bought 18 cups priced from $110 to $300.  She was happy with her purchases and said. "my family has visited the Greenbrier many times and we just love it."  After paying for her purchases, Nancy and her daughter were stopping at the Greenbrier to have lunch at Draper's Cafe before heading home to Charlottesville.

As for myself, I did bid on a few things!  I left with some clothes, a few dishes, a dozen martini glasses, two chaise lounge cushions,a dozen cups, a Greenbrier book and a Blenko Black glass pitcher.....all for under $200!   One of my great buys was a Julia Knight heart shaped bowl.

The Greenbrier is NOT for sale, the auction items for sale had been in storage for some time ... this was like a BIG yard sale, and a chance for people to get a bit of Greenbrier history!

Rebecca - The Greenbrier's Auction sounds like a great place to spend the day - I love those mint julep cups too - they look beautiful with roses in them. Sounds like you did pretty good yourself and I love the unique heart shaped bowl!

Hi Rebecca,

Wow there are so many things I love about the Greenbrier and I have never even been there...  YET!  This would be so exciting to attend...  you did very good with your purchase.  I would just love to have a little part of the History of the Greenbrier!  Great post Rebecca!
