Two top country music artists will join the world’s greatest golfers at the inaugural Greenbrier Classic this summer. Award-winning artists Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will perform on Saturday, July 31 in a private concert for Classic attendees and participants. Access to the concert is included with the purchase of a weekly badge.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have these two phenomenal performers be a part of The Greenbrier Classic,” said Jim Justice , owner and chairman of the resort. “Carrie and Brad are more than just talented musicians. They are both active in charitable endeavors and with their help, we are going to make an even bigger impact on numerous charities in West Virginia and Virginia.”
Carrie Underwood is a five-time Grammy Award winner, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the 2009 Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, and three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner. She has amassed more than 11 million in U.S. album sales since her debut CD in 2005, more than any other American Idol winner. Along the way, she has consistently broken new ground and became the first country artist in history to achieve twelve consecutive #1 singles, five of which were co-written by Underwood. She is currently headlining her Play On Tour which will perform in 54 cities before wrapping its first leg in late June.
Country music superstar and West Virginia native, Brad Paisley is a consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer, which has earned him three Grammy’s, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards and 13 Country Music Association Awards. Paisley has released eight critically acclaimed studio albums and has accumulated sales of over 10 million units. His most recent album, American Saturday Night, was ranked as TIME magazine’s 2009 #1 album of the year in any genre of music. Paisley ’s most recent #1 single, “American Saturday Night,” was his 16th #1 – the last 12 consecutive. Paisley ’s innovative and entertaining tours have consistently placed in the Top 5 in Pollstar for attendance and his 2009 American Saturday Night tour played to nearly 1.2 million fans in 8 months. Paisley will kick off his 75 city 2010 tour, H2O World Tour, on May 21.
In keeping with the PGA TOUR’s commitment to charities, The Greenbrier Classic’s Badges for Charity program gives charitable organizations 30% of the proceeds of each weekly badge sold for their benefit. Over 100 organizations are participating and to date, over $54,000 has been paid as a result of this initiative.
Several badge levels are available from the $147 grounds badge to the $5,000 sponsorship table. Purchases may be made online at www.greenbrierclassic.com or at the The Greenbrier Classic Official Tournament shop at the resort.
Volunteers are still needed. At this time there are about 1100 volunteers, the Greenbrier needs 2,000 volunteers to ensure the event is flawless. Check out the post and be a volunteer for the Greenbrier Classic, and help make this inaugural event spectacular.
