On my way to work on Wednesday, I thought of a great idea for a Halloween decoration for my front porch. So, on my way home I stopped at Lowes and purchased, 3 plastic pumpkin heads, and a 4-foot pole. I cut holes in all three pumpkins (top and bottom). I didn't make the holes too big, as I wanted the pumpkin to stay secure.
I put the pumpkins on the pole (bottom, middle and top) and secured the pole with bricks in a flower pot container. Then added some green vines around the pole and pumpkins.....my pumpkin topiary.
Topiary according to Wikipedia , is the art of creating sculptures in the medium of clipped trees, shrubs and sub-shrubs..........I tried to be creative, and used plastic pumpkins................ how did I do?

How creative - love it! I have to think of something soon....i just have a couple of autumn planters.........but i gotta have pumkins!
Very cool. It is unfortunate that where I live (Austin, TX) is warm enough that the inside of gutted pumpkins are covered with a hairy mold in a matter of days. I hope you can leave yours out longer than that.
You did good...very creative and too cool. Thanks for the great pic, too.
Hi Rebecca, I love it, very cool and a job well done. Thanks for sharing with us.
The cutouts of your pumpkins look like there is lighting inside! Great choice.
Liz, thanks!
Sam..my pumpkins are the plastic ones you buy at Lowes or Walmart. I just cut holes in top and bottom and they also have lights inside.
Lanette, thanks for the compliment.
Gary, thanks and you are welcome.
Wanda, yes they have lights inside.
How cute is this! What a great idea - especially for Phoenix were it's to hot for real pumpkins yet. You make me want to stop at Lowes and put somthing together. I was just talking about the front porch this weekend and how I needed to get it jazzed up after the long hot summer and no flowers out there. This is perfect!
Rebecca- well you have shamed me into something other than my Halloween garden flag. I'm with Anna 'Banana' above. . . it's too hot here in South Florida for real pumpkins just yet, so the faux ones will be perfect.
That's really nice looking. I have to get myself to do some decorating before it's too late! Happy Halloween!
Rebecca - Great Halloween decoration! This past Wednesday, I had dinner for my girlfriends and I purchased pumpkins to use as name tags.
Good for you. We're putting out energy towards the 13th Annual Halloween Parade here in Del Ray. It's amazing - with whole blocks getting together to create "themed" entries. Fun time of year isn;t it?
Michael
Anna Banana, yeah this is perfect for Phoenix.
Kathy, great for Florida as well.
Prest, you better hurry, Halloween will be here before you know it,
Sharon, great idea using the miniature pumpkins as name holders.
Michael, I love Halloween parades.
Very creative Halloween topiary masterpiece, Rebecca...I love it! :)
Leilani
P.S. I also love the photo with the scarecrow and the brick background.
Rebecca,
What a cute festive decoration! I guess I'm behind schedule on the decorating. I'll have to get on that. Thanks for the inspiration!
Your friend in the Cosmic Cow Pie.
Leilani, thanks this is on my front porch.
Carra, you still have time to decorate, that is if you make it back from the Las Vegas Conference....:-)
I think you did great! We don't have neighborhood trick or treaters here, so we don't do much for Halloween.
Jim, even so, you could still put out some pumpkings???
