Sunday, my husband and I drove to the Blue Bend Recreation with our chocolate lab, Zeke, for some play time, and relaxation.
From Lewisburg we drove north on Route 219 and made a left on Anthony Road and drove about 12 miles to the Blue Bend Recreation at Monongahela National Forest. Constructed in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Blue Bend is in a rustic and beautiful setting along scenic Anthony Creek. The area serves both campers and daytime visitors, and is popular for fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking.
As soon as we neared the water Zeke started to whimper, he wanted out of the car as he knew what was ahead for him.....fetch, fetch the stick...and swimming....lots of swimming.
We made our way to the water with Zeke, chairs, blankets and picnic basket. It was hard to keep Zeke on the leash as he was so excited. We had a great day throwing a stick in the river for Zeke to fetch. Zeke could do this all day, and never tire.
Upon arrival, we met some nice folks from Kentucky. They were telling us how much they love Blue Bend and usually visit three or more times every summer. Needless to say, their children had a blast playing with Zeke. This was my second time at Blue Bend. My husband comes more frequently to play fetch with Zeke.
We had a wonderful time playing, relaxing, and talking with other patrons of Blue Bend. I would recommend this area to anyone who just wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Besides swimming, there is fishing, canoeing, biking, walking trails, camping, and so much more.
Here is a short video of our play time with Zeke fetching a stick and swimming.
For more recreation opportunities throughout the state of West Virginia, be sure to visit the Monongahela National Forest website.... there is so much to do in "Wild and Wonderful West Virginia".

Nice writeup, Rebecca. We used to have labs and they would indeed play all day, every day if we had the energy! :)
Hi Rebecca,
Awesome BLOG!!! It is great to see another realtor who understands that building an image online is so valuable. I myself even after 30 plus years of experience would not have had a clue if it weren't for Keller William's technology training. If you should ever be interested in finding out more about Keller Williams Realty, and the benefits we provide our Realtors (education, profit sharing, commission splits, culture etc.). I would be more than happy to set aside time for more individuals like you. Please contact me at 440.336.0612. I wish you the best of luck with your career, and an awesome week.
Sincerely,
CJ Harrington

Rita, thanks for your comments. It was a great day.
being from VA and spending lots of time in the Appalachians, seeing these beautiful scenes make me homesick! Thanks for sharing such lovely pics and videos!
Love the lab-- they are a great breed -- strong - playful and strong!
Debra, yes, they are the best dogs...
Hi Rebecca, Blue Bend looks like a beautiful place, I was waiting for Zeke to do the inevitable shake, where everyone gets a shower! I guess that wouldn't be very good for the camera. I enjoyed this post very much, thank you!
