Land for Sale in Gated Riverside Community, 1.24 ACRES, Route 60 East, Caldwell, WV 24925
Enjoy the security and tranquility of Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca Village, a private gated community along the Greenbrier River.
Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca Village was once an Indian camp site.In the early Twentieth Century, a summer camp for boys was established here, utilizing the lore of the Indian campsite to market the new camp to families throughout the East and Midwest
Camp Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca (the name is an abbreviation for four Indian tribes that existed in the region prior to the Nineteenth Century: Shawnee, Miami, Delaware, and Seneca) was operated as a summer camp from 1929 through 1978. From 1929 through 1971 it was operated as a Summer camp for boys by the Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, West Virginia. In May of 1972, it was purchased by a local Lewisburg physician, Dr. Eugene McClung and was operated as a Summer camp for boys and girls. In 1978, a Florida couple purchased the Camp and operated it for one year, before it closed permanently. It was purchased and land was developed for building lots.....hence the Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca Gated Village.
