Scott Stallings Wins 2011 Greenbrier Classic - July 31, 2011
The 2011 Greenbrier Classic kept fans pinned to their seats with a three-man sudden death playoff for the championship. Bill Haas, Bob Estes and Scott Stallings, tied at -10, returned to the tee of #18 for the tie-breaker. Thousands of fans surrounded the green and millions watched at home on CBS, waiting to see who would earn the signature Springhouse trophy and Greenbrier green jacket. Rookie Stallings, who sprinted to the tee, birdied the hole for his first win on the PGA TOUR.
In its inaugural year, The Greenbrier Classic was a great success featuring a record breaking 59 victory by champion Stuart Appleby in front of an astonished crowd of 45,000 spectators.
The official PGA TOUR FedExCup returned to The Greenbrier July 25 - 31, 2011 with a field of 156 PGA TOUR professionals competing for a $6 million purse.
