Fairlea is located in the southeastern part of West Virginia, in Greenbrier Valley, near Lewisburg, West Virginia. Fairlea had a population of 1,706 as of the 2000 census. This small community is well known for the largest state fairgrounds, and has the largest end-of-summer celebration in West Virginia.
I remember the first time I went to Fairlea for the State Fair. It was absolutely overwhelming to me as a child, so many carnival rides, so much food, and so many people. Now living in Lewisburg, I take my family, nieces and nephews to the fair. I love to see the childrens faces, especially when they visit the animals (horses, cows, pigs, etc). It is still overwhelming and I can tell the children have the same excitement as I did my first time to the fair.
The State Fair of West Virgnia is an annual event in Fairlea, West Virginia. The fair is held annually in mid-August on the State Fairgrounds in Fairlea, near Lewisburg, West Virginia. The State Fairgrounds consists of a large open field for carnivals and exhibitions, a horse track, grandstands, and several exhibition buildings.
