Visit Lewisburg, WV and see "The Reenactment of the Battle of Lewisburg", the 149th Anniversary.   Lewisburg is named after Andrew Lewis, and was formally established in 1782.  Lewisburg is a quaint historic town in southern West Virginia and is the County Seat of Greenbrier County.

On the morning of May 23, 1862, in Lewisburg, (West) Virginia, Confederate troops under General Henry Heth attacked Colonel George Crook's Union troops who were camped above what is now the Greenbrier Campus of the New River Community and Technical College.
