Travel to pre-World War II Germany – no passport required – as Greenbrier Valley Theatre presents a special dinner theatre of the hit musical Cabaret.
Audiences will experience a different side of GVT as the theatre transforms into the seedy Kit Kat Klub, the main backdrop for the show. In addition to the cast, all theatre staff – from box office employees to ushers and servers – will be costumed for the show.
Staying true to the show’s Berlin setting, dinner, which will be catered by Stella’s in Lewisburg, will consist of traditional German fare.
GVT Artistic Director Cathey Sawyer, who also directs Cabaret, says she believes the show will be a memorable experience for all who attend.
“By bringing such a talented cast and musicians to our stage and by converting our entire space into the world of the play, this Cabaret will be a theatrical event that audiences will remember for a long time,” she said.
Cabaret, set in 1931 Berlin, tells the story of English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with American writer, Cliff Bradshaw. In the background, threatening the lives and happiness of all, including German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider and her Jewish suitor Herr Schultz, is the threatening storm of Nazi oppression.
The production marks the return of three of Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s most beloved alumni...
- Kim Morgan Dean as Sally Bowles,
- Joe Lehman as Ernest Ludwig and
- GVT General Manager Pamela Paul as Fräulein Schneider.
Additional cast members include:
- Leo Christopher Sheridan as Emcee;
- James Lynch as Cliff Bradshaw;
- Richard Cox as Herr Shultz;
- Dana Wilson as Fraulein Kost;
- Sandra L. Murphy, Katy Nichols, Pam Barry, Nancy Miller, Emily Haas, Britney Wilcox and Kelly Kemp as Kit Kat Girls;
- John Holt as Max;
- Shane Miller, Chester Shepherd and Michael Kushner as chorus members; and
- Shane Roper as Tomorrow Belongs to Me Boy.
