Honnahlee is the only single specialty toy store in Lewisburg.  This toy wonderland is a treat for children and adults alike, complete with a plethora of costumes, train sets and tiny kitchens ready to entertain tots while their parent’s explore.

The new owners of Honnahlee, Margaret and Melvin Dolan, have lived and worked in the Lewisburg area most of their lives and certainly call it home.  While working at the Wild Bean owned by Melvin's brother, and located next door to Honnahlee,  they were fortunate to meet and form a friendship with the former owners of Honnahlee, Roger and Courtney Smith.   

"The town was pretty upset when Roger and Courtney were thinking of closing Honnahlee.  Honnahlee had been here for 13 years, and was very much a part of the community, so we decided to buy the store”, says Margaret.

“We are decorating the store and selecting toys, and we plan to keep the same kinds of toys; educational, outdoor, and traditional toys.  There are a few new companies that we are buying from and looking at a few more.  Some of our favorites are Nano blocks (like tiny Legos) and Fred and Friends (fun items for both kids and parents).  We are definitely keeping most of the Honnahlee standards like Klutz, Melissa and Doug, Creativity for Kids, Gamewright and Toysmith.”

“Some new green companies we found are Plantoys made from recycled wood, and Animalz which donates a portion of sales to environmental organizations.“

“We are also buying more USA made items like RoyToys traditional building sets, Fractules magnets and Keva building planks.  It is so hard to decide on what to buy for the store when you want everything.”



Margaret states, “ hopefully all of our visitors will enjoy the store as much as we do and Honnahlee will continue to bring fun and joy to the children of this great community, Lewisburg.”

Do you remember the song "Puff the Magic Dragon" lived by the sea in a land called Honnahlee....hence the name of the toy store.

 

The Wild Bean - Coffee, Tea, and Veggie Cuisine; coming soon The Wild Brew, a new micro brewery in Lewisburg, WV

 

 

The Wild Bean, referred to as "The Bean" by locals, features traditional freshly roasted organic coffee and espresso drinks.  Owners, Roger Dolan and his wife Heather opened on May 15th, 2006, and business has been great.

 

The Wild Bean food menu contains organic and all-natural vegetarian soups, salads, wraps & sandwiches. Daily you will find freshly baked assortment of pastries, bagels and other treats to delight your taste buds.

 

 

 

 

The Wild Bean also has a great selection of local art and handcrafts, a unique collection of cds and vinyl not found anywhere.  

On choice weekend nights, The Wild Bean transforms into the best independently owned music venue around. On stage you can find anything from an up and coming local artist to nationally recognized touring acts.

Roger owns this 7000 sq ft building and is working on an addition to the Wild Bean.  He says, “this summer I will be opening a micro brewery called The Wild Brew.  The brewery will  open after 5 PM serving food and beer with live entertainment on weekends.”

On October 1, Roger Pence opened the Carolina Connection Auto Brokers,  pre-owned auto sales, located on Rt. 219 North in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  If you are looking for help in finding the perfect pre-owned car....this is the place to go.

Roger and his wife Tamera are originally from Greenbrier County.  Roger, after 30 years of service, retired from the park services and decided it was time to return to their native home.  They opened Bella, the Corner Gourmet Shop in downtown Lewisburg in April 2010, and renovated two apartments above the shop that they now rent out.

Antiques and collectibles can be found at The Very Thing, located in Lewisburg, West Virginia, just off the I64 exit. 

The Very Thing offers a wonderful opportunity to see many unique and diverse selections of items.  Stop by and browse the 75 vendor booths, with a wide range of goods including antiques, books, collectibles, vintage clothing, furniture, Greenbrier Hotel items, and gifts. 

I've shopped at The Very Thing for myself and for my family.  My biggest purchase was a 12 place setting of the Greenbrier dishes, as well as the Greenbrier china that has the letter "G" monogrammed on each piece.  Why buy china with a monogrammed "G"? ... my last name is Gaujot....I thought the dishes would work great...and I might add the china makes a beautiful table.   Never thought I would have monogrammed china ....and at such a great price.

Janet Neathawk, sole proprietor, opened The Very Thing in October 2005, and it has been a huge success.  Patrons are always looking or just browsing ... as one never knows what you might find at The Very Thing. 

 I try to stop in and browse a couple of times a month.....come join me.... there are finds of all kinds at The Very Thing.
