I am excited about the West Virginia Horse Expo that will be held at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds April 16-18, 2010. There will be a Trade Show, clinics, seminars, stallion pavilion, demonstrations, breed pavilion, youth pavilion, WV breeder's pavilion, and parade of horses.
The West Virginia Horse Expo is a social enterprise of Arms Wide Open Ministries, Inc., a faith-based behavioral health organization based in Greenbrier County. The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is one of the ministry's primary programs. The YEP teaches life coping skills such as communication, decision making, and conflict resolution, teamwork, leadership and entrepreneurship to at risk youth. Many of the youth reached come from homes with domestic violence, alcohol and/or substance abuse, and extreme poverty. Proceeds from the horse expo and Benefit Concert make this work possible.
Friday is Pro Day - featuring seminars and demonstrations for professional horse breeders and trainers.
Extreme Cowboy Race - an Extreme Cowboy Association sanctioned competition for youth, novice, and pro riders.
WV Trainer's Challenge - three day colt start competition.
Cowboy Cook-Off - Outdoor beef grilling competition done in true cowboy fashion. Competition is open to anyone who thinks they are the best!
Saturday Evening Showcase - featuring the parade of horses, trick horse demonstration and a benefit country music concert starring "Taylor Made" Country.
Who's Taylor Made?
Their sound is pure country. Taylor Made’s powerful music will electrify your senses while soothing your soul with those trademark harmonies. Siblings Brian, Wendy, and Greg have taken this unique style, which began on a back porch in Taylor County West Virginia, and crafted it into the rich country sound, that is truly Taylor Made. Since thrilling local fans for the past several years, Taylor Made has now teamed up with Dale Morris and Associates from Nashville Tennessee. Dale Morris is the man responsible for such acts as; Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich and country legends Alabama.
