Wild Wednesday - A Doe, A Fawn and a Chocolate Lab
As I was driving home yesterday, I spotted a doe and her fawn across the street in a vacant lot. The Doe was standing near the road while the fawn was feeding. We have a lot of deer in the neighborhood, but this is the first time I've been close enough to take a photo of the fawn. Although my husband has seen quite a few this year. Below are some photos of the doe who just kept watching me, when I started moving the car she takes off.
Last week, our chocolate lab, Zeke, saw a doe and went after it, only to have the doe turn on him and start chasing him. My husband yelled and the doe took off in another direction. We believe the fawn was with the doe and she was only protecting her baby. Now Zeke will not chase the deer that comes on our property. In fact, one came within 12 feet of him and Zeke did nothing.... for such a big dog he is now afraid of the deer.
