Paying It Forward - To Those Who Are Sick

Paying It Forward - To Those Who Are Sick

frog, a guardian angelA few months ago I was in the hospital with pancreatitis. While there, my friend, Mickey McCoy, visited me.  She had read a post that I wrote while in the hospital, "FROG, I Could Use One Right Now!"  and she brought me the cutest ceramic frog.  The card that was on the frog read:

I'm Angel Cheeks, your Guardian Angel,

I will be there when
nobody else is, to care,
kiss away tears and bring
smiles on rainy days.  And
always -- to be a very best
friend.  Because everybody
needs somebody ...
That's Me!

I called Mickey to see where she had purchased the cute ceramic frog and now I will be paying it forward to those who are sick at home or in the hospital and give them their own Guardian Angel in hopes it will bring them comfort and a smile as it did me.

For those that missed it, below is the FROG story.

I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an area Chaplain came to visit her.

This Chaplain was a very young female with long blond hair. She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small gift for comfort.  It was a tiny ceramic frog.

The next day one of the people from the lady's church came to visit.
The lady told her friend about the beautiful young Chaplain who had come to visit her.

The friend was so impressed with the way the lady had improved and felt the need to talk to the young Chaplain.

In her search to find the young gal, she was repeatedly reassured that the chaplains are never very young and that there was never a gal that fit the description given.

Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting nurse entered the room and noticed the ceramic frog.

frogThe nurse made the comment 'I see you have a guardian angel with you.'    As she held the little frog.  We asked why she made the comment and we were informed that the frog stood for:

(F) Forever (R) Rely (O) On (G) God

F.R.O.G. what a great acronym..... don't  you agree!

Paying It Forward - A Christmas Bazaar

Pay It Forward - Lewisburg United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar

Lewisburg United Methodist ChurchThe  Lewisburg United Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar is always held on the first Thursday in December, and is a fundraiser for the United Methodist Women.  The United Methodist Youth Fellowship, the Joyful Noise After School Program and United Methodist Men also participated in the Christmas Bazaar.

There were many booths at the Bazaar that included crafts, new and used Christmas decorations, baked goods and jellies, the cookie walk, the youth stand (edible items) and after school program (dog treats).  There was also home-made chili that the women made...over 120 poinsettia

quarts were sold.  Of course, as in the past...... Poinsettias were also sold.

The children love the Santa's Secret Workshop.  It is a place where children can go and shop for their friends and family.  Adults who work in the workshop help the children wrap the items that they select.

The proceeds from the Bazaar are used for the various mission projects supported by the United Methodist Women, such as: Greenbrier County Youth Group, Familty Refuge Center, Penny Pitch, Child Advocacy, Wellspring, Lifeline, Habitat for Humanity, and many other local charities.

After shopping folks enjoyed a fantastic lunch for $7.00.  The lunch crowd, was as usual large. Folks from all around attended the event enjoying good food and socializing with friends throughout the community.  Below are some photos of the event.

The United Methodist Women and all the other volunteers worked hard preparing for this event and what a way to pay it forward to the community.  Like many others I did my part.  I donated some Christmas items, and baked five dozen cookies for the Bazaar.  Of course, I bought a few dozen cookies, some great home-made chili, and enjoyed a great lunch and meeting old and new friends.

Christmas is about giving, and the United Methodist Women pay it forward every year preparing food and donating their time for the United Methodist Church Christmas bazaar in order to help those in need in the local communities of Greenbrier County.
