I have been learning the DroidX phone since Christmas and was amazed when all of a sudden I had all my Facebook, Google and Yahoo friends in my phone/contact list. I couldn't remove them and even called the store where I purchased the phone to ask how to get rid of the numbers. The young man did not know and gave me Verizon Customer Support. I received absolutely GREAT customer service from a young lady named Delores.
The first question I asked was how to get rid of the FB contacts. Why would I want the telephone numbers of people I hardly new. Only way to delete the contacts from the phone is to delete the application. Here is what I was told to do and have a list of favorite contacts:
- On the front of the phone on lower right, press the person icon
- Press "Contacts A-Z" at the top
- The "SHOW" screen pops up.
- Since you can not remove the names...well you can if you delete FB from your phone......move all your family to the "Family Group"; favorites to "Favorite Group, or create a new group. Although the FB group, google and yahoo contacts will still be on your phone, unless of course you delete those applications.
This is a lot easier for finding telephone numbers for friends and family.
The second question was how to get rid of the voice that says D R O I DDDD. Really got on my nerves.
- Go to your applications
- Press the "Settings" button
- Go to Sound
- Go to Notification ringtone
- Select the ringtone...I selected "Heaven"
Of course, there is an online manual at verizonwireless.com and step-by-step instructions for the phone. Once at the site, click Support, on left column select Device, select the phone. I am still learning and having a fun with my Droid.
To my delight, Verizon Customer Support was very helpful, so don't hesitate to give them a call if you need assistance with your DroidX!
