The Greenbrier Antiques Weekend Opening Night Welcome and Preview Party is on Thursday, October 28 and will honor the late Barry Weber, renowned antique jewelry appraiser. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, West Virginia’s most comprehensive cancer treatment, research and education facility.
The Antique Weekend starts October 28 and goes through October 31, 2010
The Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center offers a multidisciplinary team approach and state-of-the-art technologies and treatments, the latest clinical trials, and a variety of education and prevention outreach programs. Operated by WVU Hospitals, the Cancer Center houses the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center, the Bonnie's Bus Mobile Mammography Program and the Osborn Hematopoietic Malignancy and Transplantation Program, the only program of its kind offered in West Virginia.
The weekend, hosted by Carleton Varney, curator of The Greenbrier and president of the Dorothy Draper & Company, will feature more than 40 internationally-recognized dealers and lectures by noted antiques professionals. Weber, who passed away on October 19, was scheduled to participate in the weekend. Thursday evening’s festivities will include a preview of the thousands of antique pieces available as well as an exhibit of First Ladies’ Inaugural Ball Gowns.
Tickets for the Thursday Preview Party are $200 per person or $300 per couple and may be purchased by contacting The Greenbrier at 800-453-4858.
